It looks like the death rate of Haliburton County turtles will decrease soon. The Haliburton Highlands Land Trust just received approval from County council to complete phase two of the turtle road mortality mitigation project. It means installing fencing on Gelert Road so turtles will travel under the road instead of over it. Councilor Liz Danielson commended all the volunteers that have been working on the project. To find out how to become a volunteer, go to the Haliburton Land Trust website.
