Road deaths associated with impaired driving, distracted driving, lack of seatbelt and marine and trail fatalities are all down from last year’s numbers. However, OPP is still reporting over half of road deaths this year were caused by distracted driving, speeding, impaired driving and driving without a seatbelt. Speed alone, was the factor in 51 of 168 deaths so far this year. OPP is reminding drivers to be safe on the roads, water and trails this long weekend.
