Haliburton County’s Councils kick off the new term next week

December marks the beginningĀ of the new term of council in Haliburton County’s municipal politics.

Throughout the Haliburton Highlands, municipal politicians have wrapped up their final council meetings of the current term.

The new councils across the county start the new term next week, with Dysart et al’s council hosting a swearing-in ceremony Monday at 2:00pm in the municipal office. The new council will consist of Andrea Roberts, Patrick Kennedy, Nancy Wood-Roberts, Larry Clarke, Tammy Donaldson, John Smith and Walt McKechnie.

Also happening on Monday is the swearing in of the newly elected Minden Hills council at 7:00pm. Sitting on council for the next term is Brent Devolin, Lisa Schell, Ron Nesbitt, Bob Carter, Jennifer Hughey, Pam Sayne, and Jean Neville.

Algonquin Highlands is expected to be swearing in their deputy mayor on December 4th, at 11:00am. The council in Algonquin Highlands is a semi historic one because of the fact it will consist of all female councillors. Carol Moffatt will return as Mayor for a third term, joining Moffatt on council is Liza Danielson, Lisa Barry, Jennifer Dailloux, and Julia Shortreed.

the final council to be sworn in is Highlands East on December 6th. Council in the eastern most municipality is made up of Dave Burton, Cam McKenzie, Suzanne Partridge, Cec Ryall, and Ruth Strong.
