A new and improved website and social media presence gave Hike Haliburton a bigger turnout this year. Barrie Martin from Yours Outdoors presented the summary report to the tourism committee that said participation increased by 20 percent from last year. A survey was given to each hiker showing that half of them were new to the event and 87 percent said they would come back. Director of Tourism Amanda Ranson said the economic impact was successful too with 75 percent of hikers saying they bought locally.
