SIRCH Community Services offering job training in the new year

SIRCH is offering to help people upgrade their employment skills with the return of Ready for Retail.

Ready for Retail is a program offered by SIRCH that gives interested people training and experience to work in retail. SIRCH tells My Haliburton Now.com the Ready for Retail program is a 16-week course that requires people to attend two to three days a week over those 16 weeks.

SIRCH explains the course teaches “skills employers look for most,” and after the course, the graduates receive certification and nine weeks of hands-on experience.

SIRCH’s 2019 Coordinator of Programs, Judith Bamford says “employers love graduates of these programs,” adding “over 90 per cent of graduates from both programs were employed following the training last year.”

According to SIRCH, Ready for Retail and Cook it Up both take 12 students per year, and applicants under 29 years old could be eligible for additional funding.

Students of the Ready for Retail course will get placed in a business that matches their interests for the hands-on experience.

Bamford says “people should call and get their names in now. This is one-of-a-kind training that only happens in Haliburton County.”
