Women’s Shelters Canada updates website making it easier to find safe space

Access to information about safe spaces and shelters is being made easier to get to.

YWCA Peterborough-Haliburton announced that the national organization Women’s Shelters Canada has refined its website to make it easier for people to find a place to stay.

Once on the website, users can search a map of Canada to find a shelter or transition house. In Haliburton County, there is the Haliburton Emergency Rural SafeSpace just northwest of the town of Minden Hills.

Aside from the app allowing women experiencing abuse to find shelter, the ShelterSafe website offers a crisis support phone line and other support services accessible anytime.

If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse you can call 1-866-863-0511.
