2018 water levels in Haliburton County stayed on par with predictions

Water levels and management through 2018 were close to the predicted levels all year long.

The Haliburton Lake Cottagers’ Association is commending the work and knowledge of Parks Canada and the Coalition for Equitable Waterflow. HLCA released a statement today applauding the work done by the two organizations to track and monitor the water levels all over Haliburton County.

According to HLCA, the levels in Oblong Lake followed an almost identical pattern to that predicted by the Trent Severn Waterway Management team. Although the levels did not follow the exact numbers predicted, the HLCA says CEWF working with TSW has been good at maintaining and understanding the water levels accurately through 2018.

Currently, Oblong Lake is sitting at 1.642 metres deep which remains on par with the average of 1.64.
