Annual Polar Bear Challenge is back

The Haliburton Lions Club is encouraging everyone to get involved in the annual icy dip.

Coming up next month is the Haliburton Frost Festival, and with the festival is the Annual Polar Bear Challenge. The Polar Bear Challenge is a reoccurring event where people dive into frigid waters to raise money for one of two organizations. According to the Haliburton Lions Club, the two organizations this year are the Haliburton Highlands Health Services or the Hospital for Sick Children Garron Family Cancer Centre.

To get involved in the challenge, the Lions club says that you get your pledge form from Moose FM, Todd’s Independent, the West Guilford Shopping Centre or Cranberry Cottage. As well anyone that enters the challenge can potentially win prizes for the best costume or the most pledges.

According to the Lions, Frost Festival and the Polar Bear Challenge are both happening on the same day. February 16th in Head Lake Park.

Registration for the Challenge is from 10:00am to noon and the actual event starts at 1:00pm.
