Minden Hills looking to hire summer students

Minden Hills township is looking to hire some students for the summer.

The township announced it is looking to fill two positions for the summer with student employees. According to the town, both positions are in the Community Services Department and the successful applicant will work 40 hours a week at a pay of $14 an hour.

To be eligible, the students need to be returning to the school in the fall and be younger than 30 years old. Other requirements according to the town are the ability to work from April 29th to August 23rd and a valid G licence.

Although parts of the job description are in draft still, some of the duties that the students will need to do are assist with community room set up, set up tents and other accessories for special events, routine maintenance of all parks, cemeteries, and municipal grounds and provide information to park visitors as needed.

Minden Hills staff warn that the position requires regular exposure to dirt, dust, oil, grease, noise, poor weather conditions at times, hazardous materials and chemical waste. As well, the students will need to do “moderate” manual labour.

Any students interested in applying can send their resume and a letter of intent to Mark Coleman, the Director of Community Services.
