BBBS Haliburton challenging all to get involved in “Bowl for Kids Sake”

Big Brothers Big Sisters is issuing an open challenge to get involved in their annual event.

The Haliburton branch of BBBS is hosting the annual Bowl for Kids Sake charity bowling tournament, and they are asking that “all those that feel mentoring children is an important part of our community’s health and future” get involved in the tournament.

The tournament starts at March 2nd at the Fast Lane Bowling Centre in Minden at 6:30pm. According to the organizers, this year’s theme is “Everything Purple” and they are offering up prizes for the best purple costume. BBBS suggests that people enter teams of four to six people, adding that if you want to sponsor a lane it costs a $250 donation.

BBBS’ annual tournament is to raise money for the programs they offer, and Jim DeFlorio says “that this is the largest fundraiser of our year and the organization depends on its success to be able to offer mentoring programs to the community. Our local United Way provides us with funding, but the bulk of the operating budget is raised through the many fundraising events held throughout the year. We count on the community to assist with raising these funds and always try to provide great entertainment and fun time for those that join us.”

As an added incentive, BBBS says the top individual fundraiser will get one of three prizes in a Boston Pizza gift card, a gift certificate to Cardinal Coach Tours, or a certificate for Krown Rust Control.
