News BREAKING: Chateau Laurier in lockdown, police expand lockdown area on Parliament SHARE ON: Smith Autumn, contributor, Wednesday, Oct. 22nd, 2014 The Chateau Laurier Hotel is in lockdown. Media are not allowed to leave a secure area. There are reports of a heavy police presence is now moving down Sparks Street south past the National War Memorial. Police are expanding their lockdown area on Parliament. A CBC reporter says the Chateau Laurier is a bit quieter now and police are considering it a safe location. There are unconfirmed reports of police still searching for one or possibly two other gunmen. One shooter is confirmed dead. Jamie Schmale, Executive Assistant to local MP Barry Devolin has confirmed Devolin and his colleagues are safe and under police guard. Click here for more.
