Cook-it-Up returns courtesy of SIRCH

SIRCH is offering up some more free meals and job training with another edition of Cook-it-Up.

The community-focused organization announced that its annual program is starting on March 12th. According to SIRCH, this will be the fifth time that it runs in Haliburton County.

SIRCH explains that Cook-it-Up is a program designed to give people training in food handling and preparations in a real-world setting, that setting being Mollie’s Bistro Bakery in Minden. The other aspect of Cook-it-Up is the opportunity for the public to try the three-course meals made by the trainees and offer feedback.

SIRCH says that this year’s menu is going to look at international and regional cuisine. Anyone looking for the full menu will have to wait until next Monday.

Cook-it-Up goes until May 7th and SIRCH says that each edition of it gives eight to 12 people first-hand training, as well as partnerships with local restaurants and a “gratitude platform/philosophy that underpins the training.”
