Daytime burning restrictions in effect in Algonquin Highlands

Spring is in the air, which means no daytime burning in Algonquin Highlands.

Now that winter is behind us, Algonquin Highlands Mayor Carol Moffatt was on social media yesterday reminding her constituents that they need permits to burn during the day.

Moffatt, in a Facebook post, said “yes, there’s still a lot of snow however from April 1st to October 31st the daytime burning of brush, grass, etc. is prohibited. Burning may only take place between 7:00pm and 7:00am.”

If you are hoping to get permission you to burn anything during the day you will need to apply to the fire chief to get one. Moffatt explained that you can also get one online.

Anyone that is caught burning without a permit will have to pay for the expenses related to the fire department responding to your location to deal with the unpermitted fire.
