Minden Hills denied Disaster funding for Moore Lake Estates drainage

If Minden Hills is going to improve drainage at the Moore Lake Estates, it won’t be with federal funding.

Last week, the Minden Hills Committee of the Whole announced the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing said no to funding drainage improvements.

In a letter sent to Travis Wilson, the Roads Superintendent, the ministry explained the project was denied for the fifth and final entry into the  National Disaster Mitigation Program.

Though the rationale behind the application being denied was not included in the letter, Public Safety Canada gave a general overview as to why most projects were turned down. Public Safety reportedly paid special attention and focus to projects that would be completed by March 31st of 2020.

Despite being denied, the letter also suggested that Minden applies to the federal Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund for any project valued at $20 million or more.
