Minden Food Bank gets $5,000 donation from Kinsmen Club

The Minden Food Bank just got a helping hand from a local group.

Earlier today, Andy Rickard and Dale Turton from the Minden Kinsmen Club presented a cheque for $5,000 to the Minden Food Bank.

Rickard, the President of the Kinsmen, explained to the media in attendance that the club heard that the food bank was in need. According to Rickard, the size of the donation is a direct result of the record season the club had during the ice racing season. Normally the club presents a cheque to the food bank in the winter, explained Rickard, but felt it was the right thing to do to give this money.

He says that the weather this weather helped enough that they were able to get at least 80 people every weekend over the six weeks the course is open. The need for the funds was made clear, with the food bank being visited by three pairs of people in the 15 minutes leading up to the cheque presentation.

The food banks across Haliburton County can be used by anyone in need, and donations are always accepted.
