Minden Hills releases list of available services during flooding

Minden Hills is trying to make sure people are taken care of in their time of need.

With the Emergency Operations Centre convened, Minden Hills is encouraging residents to make use of a number of resources.

Residents and business owners, as well as farms and not-for-profits,  are asked to go through the effort of flooding registration. All it takes is calling the Recovery/Event Coordinator at 705-286-1260 ext. 211 or after hours at 1-866-856-3247.

The Minden Food Bank has set up at the S.G. Nesbitt Centre serving soup and sandwiches out of Room One, from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Everyone is welcome to go enjoy a meal.

The Canadian Red Cross has made themselves available for any that needs “additional flood relief” they can be contacted by calling  705-715-8138.

In terms of giving back, people are asked to bring a monetary or material donation to the food bank or the Red Cross. Material donations include non-perishable food, clothing, toiletries, bedding etc.

If you are concerned about flood water in your well, then you can connect with the health unit. As well you can connect with them with concerns over spoiled food.

Property owners concerned about the electricity on the property can call Hydro One at 1-888-664-9376. Disconnected services may impact water removal equipment (i.e. sump pumps); therefore, it may also be necessary to contact your insurance company.

For the people looking for help finding shelters for their pets during the flood, you can call Tails and Trails 705-935-8245.

And if you still need sandbags, they can be found at the S.G. Nesbitt Arena, the Kinmount Roads Department, and at Furnace Falls Park
