NewsFlood warning extended to May 3rd SHARE ON: Patrick Grapes, contributor, Friday, Apr. 26th, 2019 Flooded Road (photo submitted by Justin Daniels)The flood warning for Parry Sound, Muskoka and the northwest part of Haliburton County has been extended again. The original warning went until April 24th. It was then extended to May 1st. Now the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has extended it again to May 3rd.The ministry says water levels and flows in local lakes and rivers will remain high following the significant snowmelt and rainfall that moved across the area last week.Water levels in rivers are still climbing in a few cases, however, the ministry says most lake levels have slowed their climb and are peaking. Some are even starting to drop significantly. These conditions could change depending on how much more rain we get.No snow was recorded at district survey sites earlier this week, although there is still some snow in low-lying conifer areas and north facing slopes within the Muskoka and Parry Sound regions as well as within Algonquin Park.Snow conditions in Algonquin, which is located in the top of the watershed, are showing 57mm of snow water equivalence at survey locations.
