News Mother’s Day Weekend no fishing license needed SHARE ON: Doug Crosse, contributor, Sunday, May. 5th, 2019 What mom wouldn't want a day out fishing for Mother's Day? (Doug Crosse photo) Give the gift of fishing. Sure you can make mom breakfast in bed this coming Mother’s Day. Or buy her a nice bouquet of flowers. But nothing says love like a day of fishing with mom and the whole family. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has you covered. Mother’s Day weekend (May 11th and 12th) is one of four times when people can fish without a license in the province. Normal catch limits apply and bass is not in season currently, but anyone wishing to give fishing a try can do it both this Saturday and Sunday without a permit. This year may be a bit trickier about where to set up as many traditional fishing spots could still be under water. Officials urge people to use great caution next to waterways as rivers are still fast moving. There are also a large number of boating restrictions currently in place but those may be eased by the weekend.
