Safety tips from Haliburton Highlands OPP this Halloween

Everyone has a role to play on Halloween to help keep kids safe throughout the night. Constable Dianne Dauphinee with the Haliburton Highlands OPP says kids should make sure to wear reflective material if they don’t have a light coloured costume. They can also make sure they are in a group of at least three people if they’re not with a family member. She says there’s also a role for drivers to play.  Kids are excited on Halloween and don’t always have road safety in mind, she says. Drivers can be alert and look out for kids who may be darting out from parked cars or driveways. Dauphinee is also asking parents to make sure they know the route their kids will travel and check their candy at the end of the night.
