PETERBOROUGH, ON – Despite being charged in December, a Minden resident is still waiting for his trial to start.
Sean Peter Martin from Minden Hills has a date set for judicial pre-trial. He’ll be in court on July 4th in Peterborough.
Martin was originally charged in December after a RIDE check led to him being charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, two counts possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking morphine, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, being Percocet.
He was also charged with knowingly having a restricted weapon in the vehicle and possession of proceeds obtained through crime under $5,000.
Peterborough court services tell MyHaliburtonNow.com that the judicial pre-trial is a pre-emptive meeting with Martin, his legal counsel, and the judge for them to discuss the issues of the case before scheduling a trial. The court services official explained that after the pre-trial and before the trial is typically when accused enter a plea.
