The Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce has opened nominations for the 2014 Business and Community Achievement Awards. Their annual gala is taking place on February 28 and manager Rosemarie Jung says they’re hoping for a lot of participation after 107 nominations came in last year. There are 10 awards and the criteria is on the Chamber’s website. Part of the nomination is telling the story of why the person or business deserves the award and Jung says this is the most important part that gets each candidate through the first round of judging. Nominations close January 28 and tickets for the event will be sold at the end of this month.
