UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warning finished

UPDATE: The severe thunderstorm warning has ended, but the forecast is still calling for the possibility of storms later in the evening.


 

HALIBURTON, ON – Environment Canada has issued a warning for the county.

According to the meteorological entity, the conditions are “favourable” to create severe thunderstorms.

The warning is in effect for Haliburton, Minden and parts of southern Haliburton County, as well as Fort Irwin, Oxtongue Lake and parts of northern Haliburton County.

Environment Canada says that severe thunderstorms can create winds up to 100KM/H, heavy downpours and potentially hail.

Strong winds carry with them the potential to toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. as well as possibly create a thunderstorm.
