ALGONQUIN PARK, ON- Heavy weather is moving across Ontario today.

As of 12:15 today, Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the east end of Algonquin Park, due to a line of storms that are moving from Dorset to Deep River at 40 kilometres per hour.

They are capable of producing nickel size hail and heavy rain.

Locations impacted include:
Petawawa, Dorset, Upper Madawaska River Provincial Park, Opeongo River Provincial Park, Bell Bay Provincial Park, Carson Lake Provincial Park, Bonnechere River Provincial Park, Bonnechere Provincial Park, Foy Property Provincial Park, Deep River and Barron River Provincial Park.

Anyone who sees threatening weather approaching is advised to take cover immediately.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads,” read the warning.

“Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”
