S.A.V.E. Program leads to 60 charges in Haliburton and Kawartha Lakes

CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON – Patrolling bodies of water led the O.P.P. to laying charges in two areas.

According to City of Kawartha Lakes O.P.P., The regional S.A.V.E. or Snow Vehicle, All Terrain Vehicle, Vessel Enforcement/Education Team and local conservation officers patrolled 17 different bodies of water in both areas.

While patrolling, the team issued one three day suspension, 14 marine related charges, and 46 charges related to offences under the Liquor Licence Act.

All of those alcohol-related charges has the O.P.P. reminding everyone that mixing alcohol and boating is dangerous, and it could lead to the same penalties as impaired driving.

O.P.P. officials closed their press release with “let’s have a safe weekend – don’t cruise with booze.”
