Weekend fire turns into $250,000 in damages

MINDEN HILLS, ON – No one was hurt after a fire on Bob Lake.

Saturday evening, the Minden Hills Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1436 Claude Brown Road.

Fire Chief Mike Bekking says the department got the call at 7:35 pm about a seasonal single-story building on fire.

Bekking says they responded with eight firefighters and four apparatuses. He also says they did not need mutual aid.

According to the chief, once firefighters got on scene they were able to isolate the fire and stop it from spreading to the forest area behind the building.

No one home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported.

As a result of the fire, the building was a total loss and Bekking says that the total damage is estimated at $250,000.
