Local tourism board is looking for board members

HALIBURTON, ON – A tourism agency with ties to communities across Ontario is taking applications.

The Ontario Highlands Tourism Organization announced this week that it is accepting applications for its Board of Directors.

The board works “collaboratively with the tourism industry, its communities and partners.

OHTO is a not-for-profit governed by the board, and further to that, the board handles strategic objectives, developing policies and monitoring the Executive Director for operational performance.

As of right now, there are already several members of the board from Haliburton County. The Chief Governing Officer is the County Director of Tourism Amanda Virtanen.

Other members include Tegan Legge from the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve, Karen Warner from Bridging Dimensions in Harcourt, Corrina Mansfield from Deep Roots Adventure in Wilberforce, and Leann Crete from the Pines on Boshkung on Boshkung lake.

Although they are taking applications, the board is selected on a yearly basis.
