Survey shows more Ontario drivers need winter tires

Winter has arrived in Ontario and drivers across the province should be using winter tires. A survey from the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada found that only 56 percent of Ontario drivers are riding on winter tires and 63 percent of those who don’t use winter tires believe that all-seasons are good enough. Communications Manager for TRAC Carolyn Goard explains that the difference between all-season tires and winter tires is the manufacturing of different rubber compounds.

Goard also says winter tires also dramatically improve braking distances whether the road is dry, snow covered, icy, or slushy compared to all-season tires.
