Police arrest man who made death threats while possessing a gun

TRENT LAKES, ON – A Trent Lakes man faces multiple charges after entering a home with a gun and threatening the people inside.

OPP said it responded to a call from residents of the house yesterday at 2:45 p.m. reporting that someone entered the house on Fire Route 352 with a firearm.

Multiple units responded including Haliburton Highlands and Peterborough OPP along with the Central Region Emergency Response Team and Central Region Tactics and Rescue Unit.

Officers said the suspect was gone by the time they arrived but found him less than an hour later in his vehicle, which is when he ran away into the bush. Officers were able to arrest him at 7:45 p.m. without and altercation.

The suspect is charged with two counts of intimidation and uttering death threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm and being in a house unlawfully.

He is set to appear in a Peterborough court on January 23rd.
