Minden Hills is the last municipality in the county to commit to greenhouse gas emission reductions, by the year 2030.
As part of Haliburton County’s Climate Change Planning, each municipality must commit to reduce emissions from municipal operations and services.
Minden Hills agreed to reduce building emissions by 20%, replace light duty vehicles to hybrids to reduce emissions by 10%, and reduce waste by 10%. The municipality hopes to achieve this with education and initiatives on reduction and diversion of waste, and also explore opportunities for larger changes.
This is phase one of three for the County’s Climate Change plan.
