Highlands East restrict use of parks and playgrounds

Highlands East has joined neighbouring municipalities and is restricting the use of local parks and playgrounds and closing the basketball and tennis courts.

In response to recommendations from the Provincial and Federal governments as well as our local health unit, additional safety measures were implemented on Friday.

Highlands East Mayor Dave Burton says restricting use of the playground structures and equipment is not easily enforced. The municipality asks that parents, caregivers and grandparents help by talking with your children about staying off the structures.

Parks are not closed altogether and you may still enjoy green spaces, as long as you remember to practice appropriate physical distancing.
