Geocaching closed in Highlands East

Highlands East have implemented new safety measures to help slow the spread of the corornavirus.

Effective immediately, geocaching and mineral collection sites are closed to the community.

The township explains that geochaching involves touching GPS units and the caches themselves, which prevents the proper disinfection and sanitization after each use.

Highlands East also says various boat launches will remain open to the public, as many of these water accesses do not have high traffic volumes, or what would be considered “high touch surface areas”.

All public docks in the township will not be put into local lakes, to prevent groups from forming at the locations, and for the health and well-being of the community.
