The Algonquin Highlands Emergency Control Group met Friday and updated operations in the township.
An immediate and complete fire ban is now in place until further notice, in accordance with the Province of Ontario. This means no open-air fires, including burning of grass, debris and campfires.
Algonquin Highlands landfill sites are operating on the winter-hours schedule, and the Stanhope airport terminal remains closed, however aviation operations continue and fuel is still available via the card lock system.
