Huntsville resident climbs Mount Everest for charity

A local resident is climbing Mount Everest. Kelly Hammond is no stranger to doing big climbs having done Kilimanjaro for charity in 2011. Hammond says this is going to be her most exciting climb yet.

Dreams Take Flight is a non-profit organization that provides trips of a lifetime to kids who are physically, mentally or socially challenged. Hammond says this charity is close to her heart as her 11-year-old nephew battles cancer for the second time.

Hammond has to raise $5,000 before the climb in April. She says she’s hoping the community will come together to help this charity.
