The HKPR District Health Unit is reporting their first lab-confirmed case of the flu this season. Director of Communicable Disease Control, Linda McCarey is encouraging everyone to make sure their vaccinated at a clinic happening in Haliburton this Wednesday. She says they’re expecting to see more cases in the next few days and weeks. Here are a few tips from the Health Unit to make sure you’re preventing the flu:
- Wash your hand thoroughly and often
- Sneeze and cough into your sleeve
- Eat well, get plenty of sleep and be physically active on a regular basis to keep the immune system strong
- If you are sick, stay home from work and holiday parties.
