Summer swim program cancelled in Highlands East

Highlands East has extended their declaration of emergency to May 12.

The extension allows Ontario to continue to enforce current emergency orders.

This includes closure of all non-essential workplaces, public parks and recreational areas, public places, and bars and restaurants. It also includes enforcing social distancing and gathering restrictions, and prohibition of price gouging.

It was announced the Information Centre, a popular tourist attraction in Wilberforce, will not be opening.

Highlands East also made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 summer swim program at the Cardiff pool, Wlibermere Beach and Pine Lake Beach.

Mayor Dave Burton says “the health and safety of our residents is our first priority”.
