Municipal Planners have their work cut out for them to fast track restaurant patio requests.

Since the province announced allowing restaurants to offer patio service during the phased in return to normal, municipal staff have been looking for ways to legally circumvent existing by-laws and processes to allow restaurants to open up a patio, a process that can take months or not be allowed at all, under normal circumstances.

Minden Hills council agreed in Thursday’s meeting to allow staff the authority to enter into an agreement that would allow for a limited time, requests put through and assist restaurants to meet the requirements as soon as possible.

Minden Hills has received 4 patio requests so far.
