HKPR issues rules and regulations for masks and face coverings inside businesses

Now that masks are mandatory inside commercial establishments, the HKPR District Health Unit is offering answers to the many questions about the rules and regulations.

Effective July 13, all commercial establishments had to have policies in place to stop people from entering without a mask or face covering, however there are some exceptions.

Anyone under the age of 2 or up to age 5 in certain circumstances, do not have to wear a face covering.

Any individual that cannot safely wear a mask for medical reasons or religious reasons, do no have to wear a face covering but must practice social distancing at all times.

The Health Unit says it cannot be a voluntary decision to wear a mask, because there are people who are now testing positive for COVID-19, but are asymptomatic and do not realize they can easily spread the virus to other, more vulnerable people in the community.
