Central Region OPP is reporting that two snowmobiles have fallen through the ice in Ontario since yesterday. Both drivers and passengers were able to get out of the water and make it safety but they’re reminding people that no ice is 100 percent safe. The fact that everyone made it out safely is fortunate, but OPP say it’s a situation where many don’t make it out alive. When ice forms early and looks safe, it’s not thick or stable enough to support the weight of a snowmobile. The OPP and the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs is asking snowmobilers to stay off the ice.
