Haliburton County updates the procedural by-law for meetings during an emergency

Haliburton County is updating the bylaw concerning electronic participation at meetings, previously specific to emergencies only.

Now the bylaw outlines four reasons attendance by a council member or members,  are allowed to attend electronically.

The reasons now include: during a declared state of emergency; a natural weather event; health and safety reasons, including a pandemic; and restrictions or guidelines as set out by the Province or the local Health Unit.

The county is also updating how voting will take place, whether on video or phone, as well as updating the rules regarding participating in electronic closed sessions.

County council agreed with the changes that will be incorporated into the existing procedural bylaw.
