OPP looking to find rider whose snowmobile went through the ice on Shadow Lake

Officers from Kawartha Lakes OPP detachment were called to Shadow Lake Road #3 just after 8 AM, only to find a submerged snowmobile with no rider.

The call came in on Monday with officers showing up near the mouth of Gull River to find the snow machine. The OPP reports they were able to find an opening in the thin ice that was consistent with a snowmobile going through. They later found the snowmobile, which they were not able to recover.

After searching through the area, they weren’t able to find the operator. Officers believe the rider was able to get out of the vehicle and make it to the shore. A “complex search” is set to start Tuesday, but in the meantime, the OPP are hoping the rider reaches out to the police.

If you have information on what happened, you’re being asked to call the Kawartha Lakes OPP.
