Funding announced for two local school boards

The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPRDSB) and Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) are getting funding from the province.

MPP for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock Laurie Scott said Wednesday the funding is coming through the $381 million federal Safe Return to Class fund.

KPRDSB is getting a total of $2,031,729 to go towards ventilation, health and safety and student transportation improvements. TLDSB will be getting $1,121,329 for the same purposes.

Scott notes that while transmission within schools has been low, the funding will help support students as they return to in-class learning and promote student mental health.

“Having students return to in-person learning is essential to the wellbeing, development and mental health of children,” Scott said. “That’s why we are strengthening health and safety measures and providing additional funding to help students remain in the classroom.”
