COVID-19 outbreak at Hyland Crest Long-Term Care Home declared over

The Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS) has declared the outbreak at the Hyland Crest Long-Term Care Home over.

The home went into an outbreak on January 31st when two essential caregivers tested positive after a routine screening. HHHS says all other staff and residents have since been screened with no positive results reported.

Health Services says they will continue to monitor residents and staff “with rigorous infection prevention measures.” As part of the Ministry of Long-Term Care’s coronavirus protocols, everyone will be subject to mandatory screening.

With the outbreak now over, HHHS says residents are now able to resume physically distanced activities within the home.
