Even though it could take awhile, you might be allowed to raise chickens in your backyard in Minden Hills. The Haliburton County Farmer’s Market Association asked council if the by-law can change restricting certain properties from raising chickens. Reeve Brent Devolin agreed it should be addressed, and said the association can be involved when the municipality updates their official plan this year. He says it’s a process that could take a long time because they need to make sure they’re obeying provincial rules.
