One new COVID-19 case reported in Haliburton

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR) is reporting the active COVID-19 case count is at eight in Haliburton.

One new case was reported Wednesday. It’s the 67th to be reported locally.

The Health Unit also reports that there are 58 “high risk contacts” in Haliburton. Officials define that as an asymptomatic individual who is known to have been in contact with a confirmed or probable case. No probable cases are listed locally.

HKPR is reporting one case in Haliburton tested positive for the N501Y mutation that is found in some variants of concern. To date, 45 cases of the mutation have been reported in the Health Unit’s medical region.
