Over half of those in the County of Haliburton have received 1st shot of COVID-19 vaccine

The local health unit reported two new cases of COVID-19 in the County of Haliburton over the weekend. 

The county now stands at seven active cases of COVID-19 with two more previously recorded cases screening positive for a variant of concern. 

35 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in the rest of the district on Monday, 26 in Kawartha Lakes, including two workplace outbreaks in the last three days, and nine cases in Northumberland. 

The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit gave out 4,273 COVID-19 vaccines in the last week bringing the district to over 62,000 doses given to date.

As of Monday afternoon, more than half of those 12 and older in our county have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. 

That includes over 70 percent of those 65 and over and just under 40 percent of those 18 to 64 years old in Haliburton.
