News Bancroft OPP officers released from hospital from injuries in ATV chase SHARE ON: Smith Autumn, contributor, Monday, Jan. 26th, 2015 A Bancroft OPP and Auxiliary officer have been released from hospital after injuries they sustained when an ATV collided with them. It happened near Lake Baptist in Hastings Highlands Jan. 25. The officers were on a motorized snow vehicle when they tried stopping a male ATV driver. He collided with the officers, throwing the auxiliary officer from the vehicle and then fled the scene. The other officer tried following, but the driver of the ATV turned and struck the officer. The 25 year old Cardiff man stopped a short time later and was arrested. He’s facing seven charges including aggravated assault on a peace officer. The investigation is still ongoing, the suspect was in court for a bail hearing on Jan. 26.
