Haliburton County council have agreed to support Minden’s new housing project. At today’s council meeting, Hope Lee from the Kawartha Lakes Haliburton Housing Corporation asked the county for funds for the 12 unit building they’re proposing on Stouffer Street in Minden. Lee explained the project would be a self-sustaining building so there wouldn’t be ongoing costs for the county. Council agreed to support the project with 100 thousand dollars. Lee said construction on the building is expected to start in 2016.
