The Haliburton County Community Co-operative is getting a $50,000 boost from the province to help protect and improve the Great Lakes.
The money will go towards the Tri-Region Community-Based Benthos Biomonitoring Project.Â
The project’s aim is to create a sustainable, citizen-based model of benthos biomonitoring in the Haliburton, Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes areas to identify early indicators of lake issues.Â
The funding is part of 44 community-based projects set to receive $1.9 million through the Great Lakes Local Action Fund.
