Funding application gets the go ahead for Minden project years in the making

The Minden Community Centre is hoping for funding for an outdoor shelter and ice rink. Director of Community Services, Mark Coleman recently got the OK from council to submit an application for the HydroOne Powerplay funding program. The project was proposed back in 2012, and they already have 15 thousand dollars from fundraising and department reserves. Councilor Lisa Schell commented at the meeting yesterday saying she’s happy to see this project finally moving forward after talking about it for four years. The application is asking for 15 thousand dollars to complete the 30 thousand dollar project. In a report to council, Coleman says these additions will allow for more recreation opportunities like ball tournaments and winterfest.
