44th Federal Election; incumbent Jamie Schmale MP-elect for Haliburton-Kawartha-Brock

Vista Radio Ltd. is calling a Conservative win for incumbent MP Jamie Schmale with 9,582 votes at 50.0 % by 11:34 PM for the Haliburton-Kawartha-Brock seat in Parliament.

With 125 of the 266 polls in the riding reporting, he has nearly half of the vote.

Polls in the 44th federal election have closed and the counting has begun.

Please note, these results are not final. Final results will not be available until mail-in ballots are certified and counted. That process does not begin until Tuesday, September 21st. Elections Canada reports that the process may take two to five days.

People across Parry Sound-Muskoka and the country voted on Monday. Here is a look at the local numbers:

Incumbent Jamie Schmale of the Conservative Party – 7,344 votes, 49.8%

Judi Forbes of the Liberal Party –  3,328 votes, 22.6%

Zac Miller of the New Democratic Party –  2,410 votes, 16.3%

Alison Davidson of the People’s Party of Canada –  1,095 votes, 7.4%

Angel Godsoe of the Green Party –  454 votes, 3.1%

Gene Balfour of the Libertarian Party – 111 votes, 0.8%

Polling stations are now closed across Canada. The Liberal Party will form a minority government.
As of 11:23 PM Monday night the national elected results are as follows:
Liberal Party: 84 elected (leading 72)
Conservatives: 83 elected (leading 40)
Bloc Quebecois: 22 elected (leading 7)
NDP: 9 (leading 19)
Green Party: 0 (leading 2)
People’s Party of Canada: 0 (0 leading)
To form a majority government one party must win at least 170 seats. Mail-in ballots will not begin to be counted until Tuesday, no results are final until that process has ended.
